I took my girls to meet my friend Carly’s new pup and visit the little beach by her house. Who knew a an hour at the beach on a Tuesday afternoon would turn into something so special. The girls literally ran right into the water with their clothes on. They built sand castles. They got totally sandy and yucky and loved every minute. I wish we could go back every day – it’s the kind of experience I want my girls to have. Some place outside and wonderful that touches their senses and excites their soul. Where they are free to explore and find treasures likes shells.

Wellness House – Capture the Moment

I had the honor of photographing some amazing women who are members at The Wellness House of Annapolis. They are all in various stages of their journey with cancer. Some are just starting out. Others are finished and moving on. We hosted a special “me session” for them complete with make-up, jewelry and even a wine tasting. It was such an incredible evening and I feel so fortunate to have met each one of these beautiful and brave women. Thanks for watching!

I love this family. I love this session. The chaos. The hugs. The sillies. The smiles. The giggles. The togetherness. It’s all here. I felt like I really just sat back and watched them being a family, that they let me in on a little family secret. The kids were SO incredible. They smiled. They laughed. They even sat still! Baby girl was a little unsure of me at first but we got her going. I’m so sad they’re moving back to their home state, because I would love to go back in a year to see how much they’ve grown. Enjoy!

Sigh. This little three-year-old seriously stole my heart. She was just so sweet. So excited. So easy -going. Every time I’d asked her a question, she’d reply with, “OK!” or “Yeah!” It was too fun. I love her smiles as well as her soulful eyes. Mom did an awesome job of coordinating colors with little girl’s super-cute pillowcase dress. What can I say, I’m a fan!

I’ve known this gorgeous family for a few years now. We both live in Piney Orchard and would see each other at the pool. I had the pleasure of snapping a few pics of gorgeous mom and dad at a wedding last year. They are so in love – you can see it all over their faces. So I was very excited when they asked me to take some family pictures a few weekends ago. How adorable is this family? The girls were just a dream to work with. Lots of laughing and lots of love. My kind of shoot!

The mom of this gorgeous family is a new friend. We are collaborating on the “me sessions” and she does the make-up. When I heard that she had three small girls AND a five-week-old baby boy, I knew I had to take their pictures. I also knew it was probably going to be a little chaotic, but I was totally up for the challenge. The results were candid, natural, fun and full of love. They depict a family with an amazing mom and a gentle dad at its core. This first shot is probably one of my favorite pictures of all time. I just love everything about it. I’m so looking forward to watching this little guy grow along with his sisters.

Who knew that this wonderful mini-session for a family of five back in the Fall of 2010 would lead to a full session in Spring 2012 with TWENTY PEOPLE! I was so excited to get a call from my client’s mother asking if I would photograph her entire family of 20 when her son was in town from California. I’ll admit, I was a little nervous. Twenty people including 10 grandkids. Would they cooperate? Would everyone look at the camera at the same time? But I needn’t have worried. It was fun, wacky and wonderful.

we spent spring break at my parents’ house. she spent spring break wearing that tiara. (don’t call it a crown) I love this spot in my parents’ house. I wish I could bottle the light. I love catching her when she’s not looking. She doesn’t always want me to take her picture, but when I do, it’s all magic.

I just bought a new camera (yeah me!) and I was playing with it the other day. Ryan doesn’t always like have her picture taken, but she didn’t need to pose for me. I told her just to close her and slide off the chair. She was more than happy to oblige. And I love the result. She’s totally in her own world, like I’m not even there clicking away. You can feel the sunshine on her face. I wonder what she’s smiling about?

introducing… the “me sessions”

I had been thinking for a while that women (particularly moms) never seem to have great pictures of themselves. They always have fabulous pictures of their kids and family, but when you’re in the middle of a family session, it’s hard to get a great picture of mom. As fate would have it, a friend-of-a-friend who is a Stella & Dot rep had a similar idea and approached me with it. Add in an Arbonne rep to do some fabulous make-up and you’ve got the “me sessions.”

So to test this new session idea, I brought together some fabulous women last week. Some of them I’ve known for years. Others, I’d only known for minutes. But it felt like we were all old friends. My friend hosted us at her house and we basically made a party of it. I shot 10 women in about two-hours and the time flew.
