Getting Up Close in the PNW

Being a photographer can sometimes be a lonely profession. Yes, I have to interact with clients so when I’m doing a shoot I’m not technically alone. But I’m a party of one. I don’t have coworkers or officemates or even a water cooler to gather around. But when I want to collaborate, I can call on other photographers and make-up artists to help me realize my vision. In other instances, as in my recent trip to Seattle and the San Juan Islands, I was able to call upon my friends at LensProToGo and rent a long lens rather than have to buy one for this one-time use. And they let me ship it to my friends’ house so I didn’t have to lug at 500mm lens on the plane; because let me tell you, that thing is HEAVY. My point is, that being a photographer is very much being a part of a community, even if you’re self employed and work alone. Being a photographer is very much about cultivating relationships not only with clients, but with partners who can help you do your job. So, shout out to my friends at LensProToGo. Enjoy these fun pictures using my rented Nikon 200-500mm, 5.6 lens. I didn’t see any whales (boo!) but I saw lots of other fun stuff!
